Paris Fashion 2010 Favorites

The multi-city, month-long marathon that was the fall 2010 collections ended Wednesday with a fabulous ‘50s-inspired collection by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. The designer embraced women and all their bits and pieces by casting curvier supermodels to strut their stuff on his runway. Dries Van Noten also embraced ladylike shapes, in addition to some very chic menswear-style pieces (it’s easy to imagine wearing the tailored jackets and perfectly cut trousers at work, play, and everywhere in between). Of course, it wouldn’t be Paris Fashion Week without a little leather from Mr. Lagerfeld. His skin of choice for fall was of the patent variety (each model wore a black or brown legging paired with a coquettish headband). Ann Demeulemeester also offered a slew of fierce leather pieces with pops of feather peeking through. Sexed-up styles were also seen on the runway at Balmain where designer Christophe Decarnin showed the miniest of mini dresses, contrasted by floor-sweeping gowns that showed just the right amount of skin. Stella McCartney and Valentino designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri injected some much-needed femininity into the fall collections in the form of lace and chiffon dresses perfect for evening. And, cool girl favorite Isabel Marant gave her loyal followers what they want—cigarette-leg pants, boyfriend jackets, and the best little day-to-night dresses.

What were your favorites from Paris Fashion Week?

Future Warrior Womens Fashion Trend

Sass & Bide duo Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton mixed tribal and Amazonian influences into their heavily detailed Spring 2010 collection. Some uses of metal plating - like the label's armoured leggings - were distinctly futuristic in feel. Others seemed to conjure up the spirits of wild Amazonian warriors, with breastplate-like detailing and strong feminine undertones.
Future warrior womens fashion is a combination of the military fashion trend and the more savage side of the tribal fashion trend, the new warrior leaves the formal and decorated style of military detailing behind. The ancient world is at the centre of this trend - from ancient Rome, to Egypt, to the Celtic warrior woman. To bring the look into 2010, the historical elements are modernised or melded with futuristic twists.
